The British Synth pop band Depeche Mode has been popular not only in the UK but all over the world. The band was formed in 1980 and since then has been one of the major names in the world of music; today it is mentioned in the same league along side bands like the Rolling Stones and U2.
Depeche Mode to start off with were popular mainly in Germany outside the UK however after the release of their album Catching Up with Depeche Mode featuring the hit single People are People the band became famous in the US where the band soon had a growing legion of fans enthusiastically awaited their next release.
World tours undertaken by the band in 1987-88 and again in 1990 after the release of their album Violator were attended by sell out crowds especially in the US. Today the band is popular in various parts of the world like in Eastern Europe, South America and Australia.
