How Do I Find The Owner Of A Car With Just A Licence Plate Number?

Answer Question

3 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

The only way that information is given out is if it is part of a police investigation and the plate number is part of the investigation, like a hit and run and a witness got the plate number. Then becomes part of investigation as eyewitness evidence. Even then, you may not have access to it.

Jim is right.  That is not considered public information so unless a crime was committed, like a hit and run, you have no right to that information.

No, sorry knuts, you cannot! The DMV will not give you other people's personal information just because you ask for it!

I know you don't ask for it, you pay for it... I've done it... Maybe depends on the person behind the counter

I'm a police office and I KNOW it is illegal, at least in the state of Florida. I find it hard to believe you were able to "purchase" personal information!
