Jadugora is popular, or at least best known, for being a census town in the Purbi Singhbhum district of Jharkhand in India.

Another reason it could be construed as popular is Jadugora high level of literacy, which suggests a good education system being in place locally. With a population of 19,003 (as of 2001), literacy rates in the town are higher than the national average. The average literacy rate of 72 per cent is around 12.5 per cent above the national average literacy rate of 59.5 per cent. The breakdown by gender is male literacy of 80 per cent, and female literacy of 63 per cent.

Of the population, only some 12 per cent is recorded as being under the age of six years old.

As well as being a census town, Jagudora is also famous, or perhaps more accurately infamous, for its uranium mines that have been operated by the Uranium Corporation of India Ltd. for the past three decades.
