Bodmin moor is located in northeastern Cornwall, UK. This granite moorland is about 208 km ². The area is said to be first farmed by Bronze Age settlers more than 4000 years ago. A lot of its prehistoric and medieval past still remains relatively unspoiled with the passing of the centuries. One can find numerous prehistoric stone barrows and circles dotted around the rolling landscape. Nowadays, aside from Bolventor, a small village, this moorland is sparsely populated. As part of Cornwall AONB, the moor has been given the designation of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The moor has spawned rich folklore and legend, sometimes with fact and fiction merging together as stories has been passed down from generation to generation. It is at Dozmary Pool, which is found on the southern slopes of the land, that Arthurian legend has it that Sir Bedivere tossed Excalibur to the Lady of the Lake. The legendary Beast of Bodmin is also believed to be found in this moor.
