Where Is Stoke Canon Exeter?

    Stoke Canon is in the county of Exeter in Devon England. It is a small community. It is a tiny village located close to the confluence of the rivers Culm and Exe, in north of Exeter.  It is close to the Exeter and Bristol Railway. It possesses 1217 acres of land. King Athelstan gave the Manor to Exeter Cathedral. There was a fire in this village in 1847 when a hot cinder was blown from a railway engine and it ignited a roof of a cottage. The fire spread and the Parsonage House and 24 other houses were burned.

    The stoke cannon Charter of 1033 declares a grant of land at Stoke Cannon to the King's minister Hunewine by King Cnut. The Church is known as the St Mary of Magdalene Church. Records are preserved by the Boone Society's English Research centre. The present priest in charge is Rev. Michael Simpson.  Attractions near Stoke canon are the Exeter Cathedral, Topsham Musuem, and Powderham Castle. Some good hotels close by include the Macdonald Southgate hotel and Express by Holiday Inn. Campsites nearby include the Welcome Holiday Family Park, Forest Glade Holiday Park and Webbers Park caravan and Camping Park.
