    The Great Wall of China has its origin in the fifth century BC. The construction was completed by 17th century BC. This fortification was used to protect the then dynasties of China from Hunnic, Mongol Turkic and some nomadic tribes from Mongolia and Manchuria.

    The Wall has an extent phenomenal of 6,352 Km. It is six meters in width and eight meters in heigth. It originates from Shanhai Pass (Bohai Sea in east) and terminates at Lop Nur at southeast of Xoinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The wall has been visited by 130 million tourists from China and abroad. The Wall attracts around four million tourists every year.

    Some parts of the wall have been reconstructed. The wall is in the vicinity of some construction sites due to which some parts were destroyed and needed repair.
    The Great Wall is nominated for 'Seven Wonders Of The World'; the results for which will be declared on July 7, 2007.
