Which Is The Largest Town In Norway?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Norway's largest town, or rather city, is Oslo, which is also the capital city of Norway.

From 1624 to 1878 Oslo was known as Christiania, and from 1878 to 1924 it was known as Kristiania. In 2006 the population of Oslo was 544 073.

The town centre of Olso is at the end of the beautiful Oslofjord in southern Norway, and the city spreads out from there to both the north and south on both sides of the fjord.

Oslo is distinctive in that there is a lot of sculpture in the streets, probably more so than in any other city. Oslo is also home to Norway's National Art Gallery, and the famous Edvard Munch Museum, both of which are well worth a visit.

Oslo has plenty of pubs and clubs, and, on a weekend, revellers will keep going until the sun comes up.

People in Oslo generally enjoy a good standard of living, and schools and public facilities are of a high standard.
