Lisa1997 is wrong as shit! American Football was derived from Rugby. Rugby was played by college teams in the United States in the late 1800's and adapted by athletic clubs later. These athletic clubs then made changes to the game of rugby, calling it Football.  As it became more and more popular to play (and watch) Rugby as we know it became less popular.  In 1920 George Halas founded the National Football League (NFL) in Decator, IL. The first ever NFL team was called the Decator Staleys who later became the Chicago Bears! Any further questions about football should just be addressed to me. I know more than most people in the world!
