When I had my first big break up, I was HEARTBROKEN I cried, but at the same time was relieved. It was a burden on me, and everything seemed to be my fault. If anything, just try to get rid of anything that has anything to do with your ex, it'll help you cope, or get rid of most of it, and keep SOME stuff around to still keep that person. The depression will go away soon, just try to be strong, and don't think about your ex.

Why were you happy initially? And why are you getting more depressed now? I think the best way to get over relationships is not to figure out what you did wrong, but to work out why it is that things can not end amicably. It is always a mistake to play the blame game, instead you should find out what was incompatible between you two, and try and avoid the same situation with the next person. Remember that it is impossible to know how much you can like someone until you commit yourself into a relationship, but know also that you can break away from it if it doesn't work. The best way to get over a previous relationship is to work out what you gained from it, and then move on (or even get back together) with your life. This is from experience, but may not be right for everyone.
