You should be able to roll-over the additional contribution to the old 401k into the 401k with the new employer. Or you could even roll it over into an IRA (ask your bank about this option), if you want to spread the risk of how the money is managed.
Your new company owner should have an accountant who knows how to do this. The new 401k manager with the previous 401k administrator would have jointly taken care of transferring the 401k funds previously. Just ask your payroll or personell office for how to proceed. As long as the last-minute contribution into your old 401k was legit by the rules for 401k's, the money is yours.
I have a sneaking suspicion that you know that the last-minute contribution to your old 401k was in error; perhaps you aren't really entitled to it? In which case, all you can still do is ask the previous and new 401k managers. They have to be the ones to take the actions to get the money from one fund to another, and declare everything about this transfer to the tax-men. Maybe you'll get to keep it after all.
