Where Have There Been Sightings Of Big Cats?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There have been many sporadic sightings of big cats in the United Kingdom. The south west is the hotspot of such sightings, in particular places like Somerset, Cornwall and Devon. In addition there have also been sightings in Scotland. The British Big Cats Society reports that there have been 123 incidents and sightings in Wales.

Almost sixty percent of all sighted feline predators are black whereas 32 percent of these powerful cats are a brown or sandy coloured mostly probably pumas. Six percent of these are lynx like cats.

These cats are believed to have released by private owners, some time after the Dangerous Animals Act was passed back in 1976. These predators along with other exotic animals like ocelots, jungle cats and caracals were ditched when the act made their possession illegal. There have been many reported sightings but among these there are many fabricated tall stories as well.
