Basic calculations involving boxes are popular problems. They are not as difficult as they look. The volume is the amount of space that a three-dimensional shape has inside it, or its capacity. There are a number of different formulae, depending on the shape of the item, to calculate its volume. The volume of any cuboid shape, including boxes, is calculated by the width multiplied by the height multiplied by the depth, or HxWxD.

In the case of your box, all of these lengths are identical, ie. 10 centimetres. Therefore, to calculate the volume for the box, the formula becomes 10x10x10 = 1000. The volume of any three-dimensional shape is always stated in terms of the dimension cubed. This is signified by a 3 above, and to the right, of the units.

I cannot write that correctly here, but it would be 1000cm3, where the 3 is superscripted to a height above the 'cm'.

There are a number of websites that can help you with mathematical calculations. Just search for the type of problem that you are trying to solve and you will find plenty. Otherwise, just keep asking here and plenty of people will be happy to help.
