Where Does Greenwich Meridian Meet International Date Line?

Answer Question

Like other meridians, Greenwich meridian will ultimately meet the International Date Line at the poles where they converge. The vertical longitude lines essentially are also called meridians. While they converge at both the poles, they would be widest at the equator (that is, roughly 69 miles apart).

The zero degrees longitude would be situated at Greenwich, England (that is 0°) and is also referred to as the Prime Meridian, in addition to the International Meridian. The degrees ultimately continue 180° east as well as 180° west and the point where they meet is what forms the International Date Line which is in the Pacific Ocean.

Thus to the opposite of this imaginary line you will find the 180th meridian (that is, at 180° longitude), which in effect the International Date Line by and large follows.
