The number one thing to see in Constanta is the Black Sea. This coastal city of approximately 350,000 residents, located in southeastern Romania, offers attractive beaches, used by both tourists and local people. The main stretch of sandy beach is located near the city centre and it is used primarily by the locals, but can be excellent for tourists travelling with young children, as the water is relatively shallow.

Constanta also has its share of historic attractions, partly because of its Greek and Byzantine roots, stretching back to the 6th century B.C. Some of this ancient heritage is preserved in the city's Archaeological Park and Museum. Constanta is also home to one of the few mosques remaining in Romania. It was built in 1910 and is one of the most impressive buildings in the city, with a large dome and a minaret that rises above the other buildings in the area.

The best time to visit Constanta is in May and June, before the weather becomes too hot. The average temperature in May is around 20C, while in June it is usually around 24C during the day. In July, temperatures can soar to above 35C.
