1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Tarn Valley is a fertile region in France. It is located along the banks of the River Tarn. Tarn is also a department in France. The department of Tarn includes the towns of Albi, Gaillac and Rabastens, among others.

The River Tarn and the Tarn valley derive their names from the Latin word tarnis. The word tarnis means rapid or walled in. Apart from the department of Tarn and the towns of Albi, Gaillac and Rabastens, the River Tarn also flows through the following departments and towns that form a part of the Tarn valley: the department of Lozere and the town of Le Pont-de-Montvert, the department of Aveyron and the town of Millau, the department of Haute-Garonne and the town of Villemur-sur-Tarn and the department of Tarn-et-Garonne and the towns of Montauban and Moissac. The tributaries of the River Tarn include the Tarnon, the Dourbie, the Agout and the Averyron.
