What Is A Food Chain Or Food Web?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Food chains, which interlink to make food webs and food networks generally illustrate the feeding connection among species in a biotic society.

Food webs graphically symbolize the transition of material as well as energy from a particular species to another inside an ecosystem. Characteristically a food web refers to a grid where only connections are documented, and a food network or ecosystem network addresses to a network where the associations are given weights indicating the amount of nutrients or energy being transmitted.

As typically diagrammed, an organism is linked to another organism for which it is a resource of food energy and materials via an arrow which represents the course of biomass transfer. Organisms are collected into tropic levels from the Greek term for sustenance, trophikos based on how many links are detached from the chief producers.
