Because men have been considered the leader for many years even at the beginning of time. Cause the bible said the man is the leader in the household. It did not mean women have to be slaves or second world people. But people did not relize from the bible when woman were created god used a rib from the man to represent that woman and man are side by side. And if men was supposed to be on top god would have used a foot. To show thatmen are on top.
