Answer Question

I would give voucher. Just in case that person wants something more expensive they they have some help from the voucher. But a gift is more sentimental... I guess depends who your giving it to, friend, relative or someone closer...

I prefer to get gifts.I like the unwrapping the gift and guessing what it might be before I get it opened.
Giving gifts some I will buy and give.the harder ones to shop for I like to give them gift cards that way they can buy what they might want within reason(LOL)Teens are very hard to buy for so I will give them a $20.00 gift card.

It doesn't matter to me, it's the thought that counts :)

I can't say I have a preference, really.  There have been times of life where both had special meaning.  For example, when the children were small,  they all made me a coupon book one year, in which they offered some vouchers for practical things which I would normally do, like washing the car for me, or cooking a dinner for the family, or giving me their time when they might otherwise be doing something else with their friends.  But at other times, my kids have given me some great gifts from their heart in other ways.  I have a clay pot (thrown, painted, fired herself) that my daughter made for me herself that I treasure. One of my sons made a picture frame and included a very special picture of all of us.

Nowadays, I'm really conscious of the pattern of massive consumerism the world seems to have adopted, and I would rather have the gift of time, or something practical if it is  a material item. Also, vouchers such as gift cards often loose value over time when not used right away, and given today's economy, some of the stores might not even exist by the time they can be used.

From my husband I would prefer the actual gift.  That way, I know he thought about what to get and took the time to do something special.  A voucher is fine from friends and family.  I want my spouse to take the extra time to pick something special.

I usually give  a gift that my  special someone will surely like. A spa gift voucher is one of the most different and meaningful gift because it gives more value to the health of an individual. Especially if that someone is health conscious.
