You have not mentioned for which problem you are taking estrogen? If you are taking for menopausal syndrome then discontinuation of the estrogen can cause insomnia, depression, hot flashes, night sweats, dryness of vagina, painful intercourse and irritability etc. If you are taking estrogen along with progesterone in biphasic birth control pills then you can get cycle irregularities including absence of periods.
