The Romans invented the central heating system. It is still used by us. The central heating system supplies warmth to the interior section of a building. It controls the temperature inside a building. The central heating system may be referred to as HVAC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning). Central heating differs from local heating in the sense that in case of local heating, the heat is generally concentrated in one place, for example, a furnace room in the house or the mechanical room in a multi-storeyed building. The most common way to create heat is by the combustion of fossil fuel in a furnace or a boiler. The heat produced is then passed around through the ductwork by water circulating through pipes or by steam fed through by pipes.
