Who Or What Is Monk?

Adrian Monk is a character in the American television series called 'Monk'.  In 'Monk', Adrian Monk was a police detective, a great crime solver, but when his wife is murdered, he suffers from a terrible case of O.C.D, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, which alters his personality.  The police will no longer let him be a detective and he spends most episodes trying to get his police badge back from his Captain, who unlike most police captains in most t.v shows does at least tend to back Monk up from time to time, only because Monk is right so many times.  This is because Monk has now become a private consultant, his great detective skills plus the OCD make him notice things he never saw before, his OCD has improved his power of detection.

Monk is aided by an assistant, the actress for whom I believe has changed several times, Monk however and thankfully has always been played by the wonder Tony Shaloub.
