    The best way to lose weight is to improve your eating habits and to increase your activity. This is a simple formula that many overweight people cannot achieve - distracted by the promise of shifting a stone in a week on some amazing new celebrity diet, then a hamburger...and ooh just one slice of that delicious chocolate cake.

    You've heard it all before...faddy diets which force you to eat strange food combinations, limit your intake to only one food group, or allow you to "eat as much as you like" are completely pointless.

    Due to the design of the human body, it is necessary to think back to when man first evolved. The natural diet would have been based on fruits, vegetables and nuts with meat as a vital protein source. Plenty of activity would have been carried out, walking from place to place and keeping bust with hunting and foraging.

    If you fast forward to the modern day, our daily activity level and food habits are entirely different. This explains the growing obesity epidemic across the world, as people sit still for longer and stuff themselves with more food.

    The way to kick your body into weight loss mode is a gradual and carefully controlled process. You cannot starve yourself one week and then pig out the next - it has to be consistent. Stop eating so much, and look at what you are eating. You'd be amazed how many people think they eat "healthily" whereas in actual fact they are far from it. Start to reduce your portion sizes by eating off a smaller plate and not cooking so much food. Quit the takeaways (which are SO bad for you) and stop smoking.

    Increasing your activity is equally important in your effort to lose weight. Even just a 30 minute walk per day is a great way to get regular healthy exercise. That 30 mins could be spent in even more active ways too. like swimming, running or even dancing. If you are overweight and conscious of your body, you don't need to join a gym to lose weight. Get a dog who will need a walk every day and take him out instead!

      I have tried a program based on eating only one type of food per day and have lost 6 kg in one week. You have to respect the order and eat only one thing during the day.

      1st day- meat (cooked without oil or salt,boiled is best)
      2nd day- vegetables (one or two but only one at a table and raw if possible,or boiled)
      3rd day - fish (also cooked without oil,on a barbecue or boiled)
      4th day - fresh fruits (apples,not bannanas)
      5th day - milk or yoghurt
      6th day - eggs (3 boiled eggs all day)
