What Do Saints Do?

Answer Question

Before posting your answer, Locke, define "Saint". If you strictly sanction its use to the Roman Catholic or Eastern Orthodox churches, then yes, they are mortally dead.

Many Protestants, however, consider all Christians to be saints in line with the New Testament usage of the term.

I agree with you in terms of NOT praying to Saints. From what I remember from my Catholic background, these are not prayers directed at the Saints, but requests for them to offer intercessory prayers on others' behalf. My feelings, however, are that since Christ Himself is the High Priest, and since the veil was torn, we can go directly to the Father's throne room in prayer with Jesus as our Mediator, or advocate, without even the need of any other priest. I still appreciate and covet the prayers of others (priests, saints, family, friends) on my behalf just the same.

I also abstain from idolizing Mary, but the Catholic Church has fulfilled her prophecy that "from now on all generations will call me 'blessed'. She should be considered with honor and reverence, however, as she was addressed as one who found favor with God.

Why say that? Do you personally know any saints? 1st the Commandments are for everyone, sinner and saint. 2nd you and evryone else has and does defy the commandments. Thou shall not kill? You character assassinate true believers and this is the same as murder(Matt 5:22-24). We true believers try and compel others,w/love, to know Jesus. You see phony people claiming to be saints. Love is the commandment that covers the rest, for if you have it then you wont do the rest. Dont judge lest you be 1st

And that "dont judge" comment is not just thrown out there like sinners who feel guilty when somone tells them that what they DO is wrong. I didnt judge or have any guilt behind my purpose or statement. I pray you allow the Sovereign Lord to reveal Himself to you. Shalom.

Every single saint is dead, so no, I'm not chums with any of them.

The idea of saints goes against the core teachings of Christianity in two ways. The first two commandments say, in effect, "I am the only God" and "Don't worship anybody else but me." Every Catholic church I have ever been in adorned with idols of saints and the Virgin Mary. People even pray exclusively to these saints, which defies the first commandment.
