Can You Help With My Dogs Ear Infection?
I have a 9 month old Shar pei. He has a bad ear infection The vet said is that he will be on antibiotics for a long time. He is clearly uncomfortable with his problem and continuously shaking his head. Any advice on how to relieve his symptoms?

Contact your veterinarian. With severe ear infections topical and if severe enough oral steroids can be prescribed to decrease the inflammation and help with the itching. I am sure your veterinarian looked into the ear canal to make sure there is not a foreign body (like a foxtail) in the ear canal.

Thank you for replying so quick. She just said his ear is too swollen. Just keep giving him antibiotics. and return every two weeks.
You could add ear oil made from garlic and mullein. It eases the infection and helps to relieve pain. It is safe for animals.

I have a shar pei too. I had the same problems with her too. I got her some over the counter vitamins and cleaned her ears everyday and within two weeks it was gone and hasn't been back. First ask your vet clinic if they have any drops to put in to clean his ears. The vitamins on the other hand i will have to get back to you on! Any other questions you can ask me.
