Which European Country Is Called The Land Of The Eagles?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Because of the highly mountainous nature of its land, the state of Albania is given the title of the Land of the Eagles.  It is located in the south-eastern region of Europe in the clime of the Balkan Peninsula.  Albania is a very small country with an area of only 11000 square miles, which equates to about 28600 square kilometres.  The population however is not in actual proportion with the land, amounting to only 2075000 people.  Tirana is the capital city of Albania.

Generally speaking, the population of Albania consists of two main groups of people namely the Tosks while the second group is referred to as the Ghegs.  The Tosks reside in the southern part of Albania while the Ghegs live on the northern side of the region.  The majority of the Albanian population lives in rural areas and follow a nomadic lifestyle.  On a religious front, around three-fourths of the people are Muslims while the rest of the population is Christian.
