There are two main airports in Glasgow
One is the Glasgow International Airport, this Airport was known as Abbotsinch airport, it is the largest airport in Glasgow. It handles majority of the air traffic in Glasgow. It handles the transatlantic connections from Chicago, New York and Illinois. It also has connections to Dubai and Middle East.
The second one is the Glasgow Prestwick International Airport. This airport is situated to the south west of South Ayrshire, it is mainly used for licensed flights.
There are also 2 small airfields which are located in close by towns: such as, East kilbride, Strathaven and Cumbernauld.
These airports will directly be connected to the Glasgow railway station after the construction of the Glasgow Airport rail link. It is suppose to be completed by the year 2008.
