Boutros Boutros-Ghali 1 January 1992 –31 December 1996 from Egypt was the 6th Secretary General of the United Nations.
Kofi Annan 1 January 1997 –31 December 2006 from Ghana
(Africa) was the 7th Secretary General of the UN, and his term has just ended.
The 9th and current Secretary General, who began in office Jan 1 2007 is Ban Ki-moon from Korea.
