How To Handle Children With Challenging Behaviors?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

It would be my first thought to get them the help I think they need and be very involved with the treatment they receive and this would not be medication, I would only allow medication as a last resort because the majority of these children can be brilliant under the correct circumstances the problem is mainly nerves and a lack of control, medication is a quick fix and the child is not being taught in a constructive way therefore grows up to be a menance to society....good luck I feel starting in time this can be curtailed....

Ensure they benefit from "natural consequences" (as long as the consequences are not life-threatening). Children learn very quickly to avoid consequences they do not like.

However, you must be sure that they get the attention they need without having to resort to undesirable behavior. Children also learn very quickly to use any means necessary to get what they want.
