    Michael Anthony was the left-handed bass guitar player for the heavy metal band known as Van Halen. He was born on June 20, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois and was one of five siblings.

    His interest and musical ability started at a very young age. His first musical instrument was the trumpet that he played in the junior high and high school bands. He got his first guitar when he was a teenager. He bought it at a flea market and learned to play it very quickly.

    His first rock and roll band as a bass guitarist was Poverty's Children. Other bands that he play guitar for before joining the Van Halen band were Black Opal, Balls and Snake.

    He is one of the founding members of the Van Halen Band.  Together with David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen, and Alex Van Halen, they formed the band and were accepted by Warner Brothers in 1977.

    He married his high school sweetheart in 1981 and is currently still touring and playing music.
