Dragon's Teeth are not really the teeth of dragons, but are in fact the fossilised bones of dinosaurs and are used in Chinese medicine. Herbal medicine has been around for thousands of years in China and the Chinese believe that you have five Zangs ~ the most important organs in the body. Each Zang is connected to the brain and responds differently to different aliments. Fashioned over 4,000 years ago, the native inhabitants of modern day China agreed on the various pressure points and locations on the human body. It is believed that these points are the roads to illnesses in the body. These illnesses and pains can be cured with all manner of strange and wonderful plants, herbs and of course fossils. Fossils usually consist of part remains of the creature. As with DNA, there are traces of the creature within the fossil. These bits of fossils are called trace fossils as opposed to body fossils. The Chinese use these trace fossils in many of their medicines. To obtain the trace of the dragon's tooth from the fossil, the process is one of grinding the fossils to a dust and then using this within the medicine base.
