With A Wireless Router Can More The One Computer Access The Internet At The Same Time?

Answer Question

With ANY router, more than one computer can access the internet connection it is connected to...

The sole function of a router is to 'route' data requests from a single or multiple computers through the same data stream without getting them mixed up. The way this works is that each computer that is connected is assigned an IP address (internet protocol address) that the computer uses each time it requests a data transfer so the router knows which system requested it, and can make sure the appropriate data is 'routed' to the appropriate computer when it comes in.

Now while this is the case, remember that the more systems that access the internet through the same router, generally the slower everyone's connection speed is, unless the whole system is set up to have wide bandwidth, but even then there is only so much wireless bandwidth available to the router, so sooner or later there will be a slowdown, but that's the worst you should ever see...a slowdown.

Just remember, each computer that is supposed to be able to access, MUST have a wireless LAN card installed (or come with it built in, like a laptop or PSP) to be able to connect.

Hope that helps, and you have a great day...
