How Are Miscarriages Caused?

    Miscarriages can occur as a result of several reasons. The most common reason however, is due to problems occurring in the chromosomes of the embryo. It is said that miscarriages eradicate ninety five percent of fertilized eggs or embryos that have faulty genes, hence, it is terminating a pregnancy in which the child wouldn't be able to live anyway.

    Sickness or disease in the mother can also be the cause of a miscarriage. Conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, infections like German measles; herpes etc also increase the risk of a miscarriage.

    Deficiency or imbalance in the required amount of a hormone, namely progesterone, can be the cause of a miscarriage occurring. Progesterone is the hormone that is responsible for the preparation of the uterus lining which serves to provide nourishment for the fertilised egg. Also, abnormalities in the uterus and cervix may lead to a miscarriage.
