How Do Boilers Operate?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A boiler  is a bunged container in which water or other liquids are heated under pressure. The liquids are then distributed out of the boiler for application in different processes.

Boilers are usually made out of copper, steel, stainless steel and cast iron. The cause of heat for a boiler is ignition of any of the many fuels available like, wood, coal, oil, natural gas, etc. Electric boilers normally apply resistance or immersion form heating elements. At times even nuclear fusion is also applied as a source of heat for producing steam.

HRSGs, Heat recovery steam generators make use of the heat discarded from other processes like gas turbines. Boilers are usually classified into two types which are Fire-tube boilers and Water-tube boilers. Nearly all boilers depend on mechanical draft equipment in place of normal draft.
