Alastair Sim plays the character of scrooge in the 50's version of "A Christmas Carol" (1951). Alastair Sim was born on 9 October 1900 in Edinburgh, Scotland and was famous as a character actor. Sim made his debut in Othello in 1930. The Case of Gabriel Perry (1935) saw him make a debut as an actor in films. He acted in a number of plays and films, however his character as scrooge in A Christmas Carol, remains his best performance ever.
Based on the famous novella by Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol (1843), the story is about an old miser, when given a chance for redemption, is haunted by ghosts on the Christmas Eve. Ebenezer Scrooge or scrooge, as the character is popularly known, is the main character of the short story.
