How Did The World Court (International Court Of Justice) Solve Its Disputes?

    The International Court of Justice helps member states of the UN settle their disputes. It is also known as the World Court, as it is the platform where disputes of an international nature involving member states. It also provides advice and guidelines to certain specific international agencies. The International Court of Justice is based at The Hague in Holland. There are various methods that the International Court of Justice can use to resolve disputes between member states. These methods are laid down in its charter, and are widely followed for effective dispute resolution.

    As mentioned above, there is no single way for dispute resolution at the International Court of Justice. The International Court of Justice employs multiple methodologies of dispute resolution to make the task transparent and effective. Depending on the nature of the dispute, any of the following methods may be employed:
    1. Mediation
    2. Negotiation
    3. Enquiry
    4. Arbitration
    5. Judicial Settlement
    6. Resorting to regional agencies
    7. Conciliation

    While some of these methods involve direct settlement, others involve intervention by third parties. Both these means are effective in finding solutions to the disputes brought to the attention of the Court.
