Everyone In My Department Is Allowed To Work From Home Except Me. Do I Have Some Legal Recourse?

When I was hired I was told no one in my department ever worked from home. Now I find that everyone, except me, occasionally works from home, including two co-workers that have the same job title I do. Can I demand the same rights they have?

If you are in a Union, you can try to invoke the same rights as the other employees who are in your job classification. If this is a job that is not Union, it is totally at the discretion of the employer as to how they use their employees. I am pretty sure that when you were hired, there was NO mention of equal rights among the employees, even though these people do the same job as you. All you can do is request that you be able to work from home, but don't demand it. If you do, and they terminate you, it would be for "Cause", thus you wouldn't qualify for unemployment benefits. Good luck!
