Do We Get Clams In Wales?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Seafood is a well-kept secret in Welsh culinary circles. Clams are of course a popular delicacy worldwide, but many other types of shellfish, including oysters, lobsters, crabs and mussels are relished far more in Wales and seem to rank higher than clams on the Welsh dinner menu.

However, there are two major Welsh specialities in which clams form an important ingredient in the recipe. One of them is the seafood medley and the other is the almejas guisadas or steamed clams. The former is a combination of clams, languistine, turbot fillets and samphire, and the latter is a combination of clams, garlic, parsley, olive oil and white wine. Both are simple recipes, and are typical examples of Welsh fine-dining cuisine.

People in Wales usually go on fishing trips. Most stores in Wales have a seafood section that stocks clams or they can be bought online on a retail website.
