This is a common behavior in the dogs. It is called as "coprophagia" in scientific terms. Dogs normally learn it from their mothers in their childhood, which tickle their bottom to make them excrete, and later lick the faeces in order to clean the area and prevent any predator to smell the odor. Coprophagia usually does not harm the dogs, but it is socially unacceptable behavior, which can be cured.
