What Is A Hybrid?

I'm in the market for a new car. I hear all this chatter about hybrids. I'm not sure how effective this car is other than what seems to be the possible energy saver the hype seems to be saying about it. The only incling of an idea I have is that the machine operates on electric and gas. I would like to know how this works. What the energy savings comparision is and the first cost.

    The word Hybrid basically refers to anything that is a combination of a number of things. A Hybrid vehicle is a vehicle that uses two or more power sources to propel the vehicle. The vehicle you are talking about has internal combustion engine and electric motor which is powered by electric battery.
