The Milton Keynes Central railway station is located near the central region of Milton Keyes. The station is exactly placed on the West Coast Main Line where the Virgin Trains intercity service plies.

It is one of the five foremost stations which serve Milton Keynes. The remaining four stations are Wolverton (North), Bletchley (South), Fenny Stratford (also in the south) and Bow Brickhill (South-east). Plus Woburn Sands railway station is located just outside the city frontier; it does the duty of serving the south-east region of the Borough.

At the moment in total there are three south-bound tracks and two north-bound tracks. In the year 2006, the Department of Transport confirmed that work was going to start on a third north-bound track and also on a fourth south-bound track by 2007.
