That would definitely be a frightening thought for a mom to have.  However, most staph infections that babies get start with things like diaper rash (the bacteria get in the wounds), and if it's caught right when it starts, topical ointments usually clear it up.  If it gets worse, then the pediatrician's will precribe antibiotics to get rid of the bacterial infection in the body.  Just keep those antibiotics going, Myme05, and that should clear the infection up.  

I DO truly think that you should call the baby's doctor, though -- you're concerned in a way that you should have your anxiety and worry about this discussed with the doctor, so you can be sure that the medication the baby is taking is going to take care of everything.  No mom should have to worry about losing her baby, and you should really hear the answer from the doctor, so you can feel peaceful and relaxed while your baby heals.  I will be keeping your baby in my prayers for a fast recuperation from the infection.
