Botswana formally known as the Republic of Botswana basically is a nation located in Southern Africa. Botswana shares its land borders with South Africa towards the south and southeast, with Namibia towards the west, with Zambia towards the north and with Zimbabwe towards the northeast.

The economy of Botswana is primarily dependent on the mining and tourism industry. When it gained independence from United Kingdom in the year 1966, Botswana did not have its own army. The Botswana Defence Force was created in the year 1977 in an effort to guard it self from the attacks of the Rhodesian army. According to the census reports the total area of this region was estimated to be 581,730 square kilometres. As of the year 2006, the total population of this country was said to be 1,639,833, having an average population density of 3.0 per square kilometre.
