Where Was The First Hard Rock Café Started?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The first Hard Rock Cafe (HRC) was located in London, England, near Hyde Park Corner and opened on June 14, 1971. The founders Isaac Tigrett and Peter Morton were two music-loving Americans. HRC was an instant hit and became timeless roll music and sensibility. The cafe was supposedly got its name from side one of The Doors' album, 'Morrison Hotel'. This in turn was named after a down town, with its American menu, warm service and most importantly the ubiquitous rock 'n' Los Angeles bar (now closed), which is illustrated on the back cover of the album 'Morrison Hotel'.

The Cafe's motto 'Love All, Serve All' which they adopted from Sathya Sai Baba, who was Tigrett's guru. The chain has gone global since 1982, making its presence felt with 138 venues in 42 countries. HRC has eventually become the leading collector as well as the leading exhibitors of memorabilia of rock 'n' roll in the world.
