This US sitcom is always associated with the 1970s, and in fact the original series did run from 1970-73. It was a wholesome family comedy based on the idea of a young widow and widower who marry and bring up their families together (six children in all.) The families bicker, but are essentially united; the show's cosy atmosphere proved popular, and there were a number of sequels. The first of these, "The Brady Bunch Hour," showed the family becoming TV performers. There were two more in the 1980s, in which some of the Brady children get married and start their own families.

By now it had become more of a soap opera than a comedy, and after the final series in 1990 the show's popularity had declined drastically, end no more episodes were made. However, the show lingered in the public memory with two film parodies made in the 1990s – the idea of these was that the Bradys were a slightly insane family who didn't know it wasn't the 70s any more.
