In the early 70's Van Morrison moved to Woodstock, New York. He generally wanted to be close to his friend Bob Dylan, who was residing there.

He later released his album Moon Dance in 1970, which made it to number #29 on Bill Board charts. This album was quiet different to Morrison's previous album Astral Weeks. Moon Dance was quiet cheerful and optimistic as compared to the sad and vulnerable Astral Weeks released earlier. The title track which was never released as a single in US was played heavily on radio formats. The suggestive song "Into the Mystic" has also collect a lot of following over the years. Over the period of years he released quiet a few successful albums like: His Band and the Street Choir, Tupelo Honey and Saint Dominic's Preview.
