If A Blue Racer (snake) Is Caught As A Juvenile (8-10 Inches), Can It Become A Good Pet Snake?

I caught this snake in my yard. We have kept it in an aquarium for 3 months. He eats small frogs and crickets, and gets along with a much larger hognose just fine (now). I was wondering if he will become too aggressive to keep when he matures.

If you like to handle your snakes regularly, they probably won't make a good pet for you. Although in saying that, if you don't handle your snakes a lot, then it should be fine.

Best thing you can do is just hold onto him and see how things go. It's like any pet you get really, now you know there it is possible to have them as pets, it's just a case of making sure you watch him (like you would any other pet animal you have) and seeing whether he is OK or not.

They also have a tendency to try to escape a lot, so make sure your aquarium is securely closed!

racers are nervous but if you handle it at least 2-3x a week and at least 5min at a time it will begin to get use to the holding and will either get use to you or not. Corn Snakes make the best pets in the snake world they generally calm down as soon as there handled a few times. :) and petco sales them here for 39.00 a piece good price for cornsnakes
