What Was The Structure Of The English Parliament?

The English Parliament was the first body that restricted the power of the king. As a matter of fact, it was before the creation of the Parliament and the signing of the Magna Carta (a document that allowed nobles to make rules and laws in exchange for the taxes and armies they gave to the king of England), that the king of England had sole authority. The establishment of the Parliament mutated the state of affairs in the favor of the nobles. Overall the Parliament was divided into two houses namely the Upper House and the Lower House.

The Lower House consisted of all the representatives that the colonists of America had appointed to represent their population in America. As for the Upper House, it was constituted of governors, who were appointed by the King of England. Together these two houses were responsible for framing the legislations, on the basis of which the state would be run.
