Is The Big House The Same As The Demesne House?
asked 2 years ago
Answers
A Demense refers to an estate or part of an estate that is occupied and controlled by, and worked for exclusive use of the owner. Normally it refers to the land belonging to and adjoining a manor house or an estate. Thus it is very different from the concept of Big House. As a big house can not necessarily be qualified as a Demesne.
