Can I Give My Dog Human Antibiotics For His Cold?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

I will not recommend not only human antibiotics but also animal antibiotics for your dog without consultation of vet. Antibiotics are same for both human and other animals but there is difference of per ml or mg dose depending upon body weight. Antibiotics are use to treat bacterial infection only but Cold in dogs can be due to bacteria or virus. So, antibiotics will not work for viral infections. First of all investigations should be done to find out whether your dog is having bacterial or viral infection leading to cold like symptoms. Cold in dogs result from upper respiratory tract infection. Symptoms of cold in dogs are
    1. Coughing
    2. Sneezing
    3. Nasal discharge
    4. Watery eyes
So, get vet help first by taking your dog to him.
