What Universities Are In West Yorkshire?

    There are two universities in the West Yorkshire area.

    Bradford University has its origins back to at least 1882 when it became the Bradford Technical College.  

    In the modern university, there are 8 schools: The School of Archaeological, Geographical and Environmental Sciences, The School of Engineering, Design and Technology, The School of Health Studies, The School of Informatics, The School of Lifelong Education and Development, The School of Life Sciences, The School of Management, The School of Social and International Studies.

    The School of Life Sciences has the largest number of students of all the 8 schools, followed by the School of Informatics which consists of the university's departments of computing and Electronic Imaging and Media Communications.

    The University of Leeds is one of the largest universities in the UK and is a major teaching and research university.

    It is a member of the Russell Group of Universities and was recently seventh for the number of top scoring researchers.

    The library holds around 2.7 million books across 6 sites plus a growing number of electronic books and several hundred databases.

    There is a network of 9000 personal computers, and the university covers over 1200 acres of land.
